Design and accessories by Lydia Meiying

Lydia Meiying is a 3rd year student studying printed textiles at Leeds College of Art and Design. You would think that this would keep her busy enough, but no. In her very busy schedule she has made time to create a range of handbags and jewellery. And very pretty they are too.

To view Lydia’s design gallery go to www.hellomeiying.com.
To shop for handbags and jewellery go to www.meiying.etsy.com.

Guerilla Embroidery

Accessories by Guerilla Embroidery

I’m delighted to share the work of skilled seamstress and textile designer, Sarah Terry of Guerilla Embroidery. Each piece is inspired by the patterns and colours of nature and is developed organically and intuitively in fabric and thread. These ideas are applied to handmade bags, purses, accessories, and customised clothes.

In 2004 Sarah was long listed for the Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery. Her work can be found in collections all over the world.

Find Sarah at the British Craft Trade Fair in Harrogate this April and at the Owl and Lion gallery in May. Until then you can shop at www.guerilla-embroidery.com.

Take-Out Boxes by Lunar Feliz and Bottle Caps by Jennyb's Bottlecaps

Today’s post is all about taking everyday practical items and reworking, revamping and rejigging them to create something new, thoughtful and inspiring.

Take-Out Boxes by Lunar Feliz

Luna Feliz creates one of a kind fabric Chinese take-out boxes that can be used for gifts, jewellery, make-up or simply as a place to stash bits and bobs around the home. There’s no cardboard included. Each one is make entirely out of fabric. And incidentally, Luna Feliz means ‘happy moon’ in Spanish.

Bottle Caps by Jennyb's Bottlecaps

Jenny Bridger of Jennyb’s Bottlecaps makes a variety of items including magnets, brooches, buttons, keyrings and mirrors, all from recycled bottle caps. Due to the nature of materials - images come from recycled junk mail, magazines, greeting cards and other sources - most of the bottle caps are unique. Commissions are also welcomed.

Happy Accidents

Steven's Happy Accidents

Aren’t these cute? Made by Steven McVay, these Happy Accidents are so called because of the process of creating them. Steven begins with a an idea of the finshed article and then sets to work. However, his monsters, prints, pillows and bags take on a life of their own and the result is often very different. Hence, a Happy Accident!
