A new and innovative art project is about to launch in Blackburn. Alongside Blackburn Market’s regular stallholders, around 50 artists and makers will be selling their products as part of Celebrate Blackburn.

Rebecca Johnson, head of arts at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council said of the event, “This is the first time I’ve known of this being done in a working market in the North West. We’re hopefully going to bring some different people in and let a wider audience know how talented our local artists are. It’s a case of using available space around the market to boost the local economy. The message is come and buy an original piece of art. There’s something to suit every pocket and taste.”

The council is hoping that the market will become an annual event.
