Cork and Cotton

Bags from Cork and Cotton

Guess what these are made of? Well the title sort of gives it away. They’re made of cork!

Cork fabric or cork leather is being used more and more to make furniture, floors and even clothing. And in this case quirky totes, purses, wristlets and pouches. Cork fabric comes from shavings taken from the bark of cork oak trees. However, it’s totally renewable as the cork grows back again.

All of the above are made by seamstress Carolyn Suddaby of Cork and Cotton.

So cool! I love the way cork feels. I like seeing cork used in different mediums. I just went to this restaurant here on Maui called Merrimans and they had cork menus and this restaurant in Portland in the Pearl district has cork wainscoting.
