Dionne Swift

Dionne Swift is a textile artist based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Inspired by her environment she dyes, stitches and manipulates cloth to fully explore its potential. Her work ranges from hand painted devore velvet landscapes to collagraphic prints to structural stitched surfaces.
In addition, Dionne runs a number of Devore workshops and masterclasses. If you haven’t heard of Devore before its name derives from the French ‘devour’ ’ to eat away or to burn. It is a technique that creates ‘cut work’ in fabric. In simple terms, a slightly acidic dye is applied to fabric and when rinsed some of the fibres are dissolved, creating beautiful and unusual effects.

Dionne will be exhibiting at Landmark’s Contemporary Textile Fair on 8th and 9th March. The fair champions cutting edge design and showcases recent graduates and seasoned exhibitors from across the UK.
