Wrangler/Dazed & Confused Poster and Lady Miss Bee by The Mofo

Dazed & Confused magazine recently contacted us about a project they’re involved in this summer. They’re curating a public exhibition that gives photographers and illustrators the opportunity to take part in a group exhibition touring Barcelona, Milan and Stockholm. This is part of the Wrangler ‘Thisiswanted’ events.

Each festival weekend will include a mixture of live music by local talent and international headliners and Dazed & Confused will be curating an interactive gallery within each site, in each city. The 3 winners will win city breaks to the events.

The brief for the exhibition is very simple, all photographs and illustrations submitted for the exhibition should follow the theme of “Wanted”.

To submit your work and for more info go to www.dazeddigital.com/projects/wanted.

The above pic is one of the photography submissions:

Ference K??mmer

Bags and Purses by Ference K??mmer

I have selected the above bags from Ference K??mmer’s Spring/Summer Collection. Aren’t they pretty? Fabrics are contemporary and have been carefully selected by designer Leigh Ference-K??mmer. Small, subtle, functional details have been added, such as fun tie closures, feminine lace, elegant looking pleats and braided trims, handles and straps. The style is fun yet classic, which the designer describes as ‘quirky classic’.

You can buy online from www.ference-kaemmer.com. Shipping to the UK costs just 8.90 Euros (approx £6.00).

Sunny Skirts and House Coats

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007
Clothing by Amy D

The sun has come out again and so I thought I’d blog about these lovely sunny skirts by Amy D. The style is full and floaty with a kick back to the 50s.

And I love the retro aprons. They remind me of the aprons that my gran used to wear. She called them house coats (not to be mistaken for dressing gowns) and wore them to protect her clothes when she was doing the housework.

Take a look at www.madebyamyd.com. Everything is handmade and oh so pretty.

Crafting for a Good Cause

Pics from Morsbags

We went to the supermarket the other day to pick up the weekly shop. We paid at the checkout, packed up the groceries and then came home. It was only when I was unpacking that I reaslised we had used 12 carrier bags without even thinking about it.

There’s been a lot of media coverage recently about the use of plastic bags and their negative impact on the environment and on wildlife. Did you know that 1 million plastic bags are consumed every minute globally? Well finally a small organisation called Morsbags is doing something about it and you can help too.

Morsbags is made up of lots of ‘pods’. Each pod makes their own reusable bags, often in a fun, social setting and distributes them for free to shoppers. Lots of people are already involved and pods are popping up everywhere. You too can help by setting up your own pod or putting your remnants to good use and making your own reusable bags. And I know that this is not the point but handmade fabric shoppers are so much more stylish than supermarket carriers.

More information and patterns are available from www.morsbags.com.

Meet the Neighbours

Working in Levy

You may have noticed that blog posts have been a little bit thin on the ground this week. The reason is that we’re in the process of moving into new premises. We received the keys today and we will be moving in shortly, phone lines and broadband permitting. Normal blogging will be resumed next week :-)

I took a few quick pics of the ‘hood’ while we were waiting to sign up.

Have a good weekend.
